This week we welcome Kelly back from her freshman year at Georgetown University. She’ll be in during the afternoons and helping us with the summer’s health fairs and other events we’ll be at. Be sure to welcome her back when you come in, she is looking forward to seeing everyone again.
Next week is a short week as I am heading to Sherman College of Chiropractic to take some Continuing Education courses before the holiday weekend (Yes, it’s almost Memorial Day, can you believe it!?) Next week we’ll be open Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday morning and closed Wednesday afternoon through the holiday and returning again for regular hours on Tuesday, May 28.
May Anniversaries:
7 years: Tony T
3 years: The Almeida Family, The Clapper Family
2 years: Rebekah H
1 Year: The Skor Family, The Bocchichio Family
Topic of the Month, May: Chiropractic and Genetics:
We all know that DNA is the code for life and that DNA provides a code for everything. What we need to also know is that the environment in which we grow up is as important as our DNA in determining the person you ultimately become. The environment turns genes on and off. So genes and DNA establish probability but not inevitability.
Think of genes like books in a library. There are many books to choose from but you’ll only get the information out of the ones you actually take off the shelf and read. The beauty is that you get to choose which book to pull off the shelf and which book’s information you get to apply.
A perfect example of this is alcoholism. EVERY human on the planet has a gene for alcohol(ism) expression. But you still have to consume an alcoholic beverage to “turn on” the gene and begin it’s expression.
Because your nerve system is the link between your inside (DNA) and outside world, it is imperative to maintain a healthy nerve function. When nerve function is interfered with genes can not express themselves properly and can mutate,. The Journal Neurobiology states “For all living cells, regulation of gene expression by extracellular neurological systems is a fundamental mechanism of development, homeostasis, and adaptation. The Neurological mechanisms that underlie the control of gene expression are becoming increasingly well understood. Every conceivable step in the genetic sequencing process is subject to dynamic regulation by the central nerve system.”
Be sure to maintain your weekly subluxation checks to reduce nerve interference and to receive your adjustments as necessary.

WOW!!
What great feedback to the hours changes that were posted last week. We had many responses from folks liking the addition of lunch time hours, saying it will be easier for them to get in. I’ve noticed the Saturday folks congregate to the second half of the shift, so we are slightly changing those hours as you’ll see below. Lastly, there were MANY requests to extend the evening hours to 6:30PM… We are going to provide that as well.
So our new hours are as follows:
Mon / Wed: 8:15 – 1:30, 3:30 – 6:30
Tues / Thurs: 12 – 6
Fri: 8:15 – 11
Sat: 10:30 – 11:30
PLEASE NOTE: The office will be closed this Friday, May 10th.
Last week I talked about a 10 year old girl who was suffering with constant seizures that caused speech issues and her hand to constantly spasm. We know many of you have been praying for her and we urge you to continue doing so. I spoke with her father on Saturday and he told us that on Friday she had three intervals of NO spasms or seizures; each “quiet” interval lasted 10 -15 minutes.
We all have the same innate power inside of us. It gives us life and keeps us well. When this innate power is interfered with, bad things can happen. When the interference is removed and the power allowed to flow freely again, life is restored. Your Chiropractic adjustments help keep this power flowing so you stay well and maintain freedom from the suffering caused by sickness, disease, and medication.
“Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free”
- “The New Colossus”, Emma Lazarus

… was a HUGE hit! Thank you to all who participated and made it a wonderful and enjoyable event. It was our biggest Saturday ever!
Nardi Family Chiropractic’s Chiro-kids Clubhouse is a completely padded floor with foam letter, number, and animal puzzle blocks. It has a blackboard painted onto one wall and a magnetic white board painted onto the opposing wall so that our Chiropractic Kids can draw on the walls of the clubhouse! (“SO COOL” states one of our Chiropractic kids) Magnets are provided to play with that are educational and display our Chiropractic Kids artwork and schoolwork. Also within the clubhouse are markers and crayons to color with and books about raising healthy children for mom and dad to borrow. “Child’s First Adjustment” certificates are provided to all the Chiro-kids who receive their first adjustment honoring that their life is now working clearly.
The Grand Opening was catered by Taste by Spellbound, of Avon, CT who provided chocolate chip cookies, cupcakes, toffee bars, and lemon squares. These goodies were enjoyed by all.
One of the people we were able to introduce to Chiropractic was the family of a 10 year old girl who has been experiencing seizures for the past year. Two days before the seizures began she has her annual check-up and physical and walked away with a clean bill of health. Before the seizures mom and dad described her as a warm, and outgoing personality who at the age of six “hosted her own talk show among the family.” Now, as complications due to the seizures, she is having issues with speech and her right hand is constantly spastic (think along the lines of flexing your fingers to make a duck’s beak, while also bending at the wrist). Living north of Boston, they have brought her to Boston Children’s hospital and a Children’s clinic in Cleveland trying to determine what is happening. Although the doctors think they know what is happening, no diagnosis has been provided yet.
Immediately after her first adjustment, she fell asleep in the office and slept the whole 2.5 hour ride home. The next day she returned to NFC and checked clear. On Saturday, mom and dad said that her speech therapist is noting marked improvements and asked if they had done anything differently. We’ll keep you posted on subsequent improvements. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers for a full recovery.
Thank you again to all who helped promote and organize the Grand Opening Event. And thank you to Taste by Spellbound for catering delicious baked goods.

“When you remove the interference, you are capable of far greater things than anyone has allowed you to believe you are capable of, especially with regards to your health.”
One of our newer folks just told us that after six months of not having her menstrual cycle it returned since starting her adjustments. This despite the stresses she has in her life.
We’ve had a two-year old child under care for about a month now who began with some constipation. Can you imagine a two year old not able to poop? Picture the pain she felt in her tummy. After three adjustments she is regular again and running around the office when she comes in.
These are examples the potential we all have inside of ourselves and how adjustments help express that potential.
This Saturday, April 27 from 10 AM to Noon, we’re having a Patient Appreciation Day in honor of all of you who choose to express your potential. We’ll be officially opening our new Chiro-kids Clubhouse and allowing the kids to write on the walls and chalkboard for the first time, expressing their inner artist. Many goodies will be provided and if you have a sweet tooth or a sweet heart you won’t want either to miss out.
New members will receive a complimentary examination and scan on Saturday.
If you haven’t been in for a while, we understand, you can start up again right where you left off. Saturday is a great day to come back in! We’ll provide you a scan and adjustment for just $40 (regularly $165).
We’re looking forward to seeing everyone! Stop in early and stay as long as you like making new friends and having some family fun!

“Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things.”
- I Corinthians, The Bible
In find in my life I am always working to be better than I currently am. We all want to be good and I an no exception to that. Do you ever find the harder you try, the slower it happens? I do.
We want so much to support and provide for our families that it’s easy to get caught up and begin feeling trapped in the rat race. Then we come home and the routine sets in and soon I find boredom follows.
The next thing I know, I am neglecting myself and my family. I don’t read with my kids as much, I become irritable and quick to anger.
Do these things happen to you to?
That’s why I get checked and adjusted. When I’m living innately I realize these things sooner. I recognize when I begin to slip, rather than slipping so far it creates problems. When I’m in adjustment, I exercise more, I eat better, I am more loving and feel greater love around me. It’s when I get physically worn out that I allow the spirit to take over. That’s why I train with running, biking and martial arts… to wear out my ego and connect more with God becoming a better more virtuous person.
When connected I feel more capable… not invincible, but competent. I feel if I tell myself to go an extra mile, I can. Often times I do. It’s finding that extra gear and I get to feel free. That brings me joy and inner peace. While at the same time providing a natural high that comes with achievement.
Naturally, gratitude ensues and the cycle is complete. Interestingly, when I learned to begin with gratitude, I found myself slipping less and for shorter time frames.
You can do it also. You are capable of far greater things than anyone has ever lead you to believe you are capable of.

Good Morning!!
Monthly Topic
April’s Anniversaries
Schedule Change
Thank you for all of your referrals and sending in your friends and family. We continue to grow the practice and have room for more. Remember 4/27/13 is the Grand Opening of our new “Chio-kid’s Clubhouse” and we’ll be allowing the kids to write on the white board and chalk board walls for the first time. Brin in your friends and family for complimentary first day services between 10 AM – Noon. We are looking forward to seeing you there.
Have you noticed an increase in your medical insurance premiums?
April is Vertebral Subluxation and the Workplace Month. Did you know the cost for an employer to cover a typical family of four is expected to top $20,000 in 2013? In 2002, the same cost was only $9,235. The largest costs to employers come from Abesenteeism (people taking days away from work) and Presenteeism (those with lost or reduced production while at work.) because these two factors tie directly into employee production:
* In 2010, cardiovascular disease and stroke cost American business more than $503 Billion in lost productivity
* In 2010, Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia cost American business more than $172 Billion in lost productivity.
* In 2008, cancer cost American business more than $134 Billion in lost productivity.
* Depression accounts for more than $51 Billion per year in lost productivity. $35 B of which results in reduced performance while at work.
* On-the-job pain (ex: back pain, head ache, and arthritis) cost employers nearly $47 Billion per year in productivity loss.
(Statistics provided by Milliman INC, an independent actuarial and health care consulting firm)
The point here is that Americans are NOT working UP TO THEIR POTENTIAL.
Research suggests that employers get an average of $3.48 back in REDUCED health care costs and $5.82 in lower absenteeism cost for every dollar spent on employee wellness. Nardi Family Chiropractic offers employers group discounts on our membership programs. In fact, Dr. Nardi can organize the program so that HE GOES TO THE BUSINESS to adjust on site. If you are an employer or know someone in a Human Resources (HR) department, we’d love to talk with them about helping to reduce their health care costs, especially with concern to the upcoming government mandates due in 2014.
April’s Anniversaries:

About three weeks ago I had an awesome experience with once of our Practice Members, Rob. He came in and said, “You know doc, your kids area would look great where the front desk is now; seeing how you don’t have any staff.” We went on to have a great discussion about what we could do with the space for the kiddos.
I’m always up for listening to suggestions for the office. This particular suggestion was even more appealing. This time last year, I was meditating on office improvements and exactly what Rob suggested was all written down on a piece of paper. After our talk that day, I found the paper buried on my desk and read it. EVERYTHING that he suggested was on that piece of paper. I just “never got around to it.”
How many times has that happened to us in our lives? It happens more often than we care to admit, especially when it comes to taking care of our health and the health of our families. We love to put health off until it’s lost and “unbearable”.
That’s what makes our Practice Members so different. You “get it.” There is no holding you back from being healthy. You realize that it takes constant and consistent effort. We love you for that!
We also know that you have like-minded friends who would benefit from being Practice Members here. Bring them this month for a complimentary face to face consultation.
The best part of the whole renovation has been how rewarding it has been to watch it all unfold. It has helped me drain my mental energy (educated) and opened me up more to listen to the spirit and be innately guided, just as we often talk to you about. You never know what will push you over the line to the next level. For us it was a new kid’s area.
Speaking of which, save the date of Saturday, April 27 when we’ll be officially opening our new “Chiro-kids Clubhouse.” The office will be open from 10am – noon. It’ll be the first time we allow the kids to write on the walls of the clubhouse… Blackboard and whiteboard only of course.
We’ll be providing complimentary New Member exams for your friends and family, so bring them in with you. Although we always have time for New Member walk-ins, we’ll be giving priority to those New Member’s registered on this day. All adjustments will be walk-in as per usual.
Goodies for 4/27/13 are being provided by Taste by Spellbound and are sure to make your mouth water… I know mine did when I went into their shop to place the order. If yours or another child oriented business that you know of would like to help us with the Grand Opening, please let us know. We’ll be sure to mention them over the next couple of weeks.
Finally, we’re looking to add to our children’s picture collage in the Chiro-kid’s Clubhouse. Please bring a picture of your kids or if you would please allow us to photograph your kids at their next check-up. All pictures will be added to the collage in the Clubhouse ONLY.
What an expression of life it will be on April 27, 2013, 10am-noon.
